Criteria for Open Burning Within the
Town of Lisbon

- A permit is required for any open
burning within the Town of Lisbon including cooking on an open fire.
(See #6)
- The Comm. Center shall announce the
issuance of each permit and the location of the open burning.
- Open burning shall only be allowed
between the hours of 5PM and 11PM week days, unless prior arrangements
have been made with the Town Fire Warden / Chief. Weekends, burning
will be allowed from 9AM –11PM.
- No open burning at all will be
allowed if the State and or the Fire Warden have issued a high fire
danger. This includes fires for the purpose of cooking. The Town of
Lisbon will not issue permits if the winds are 12MPH or higher on a
class two day.
- All rules on the permit and as
directed by the issuer shall be strictly adhered to.
- Cooking:
- Fire shall not be lit any sooner than half an hour prior to
cooking food.
- The fire must be extinguished immediately once the food has
been removed.
- Fireplace permits “may” be issued
for a period not to exceed 1 year, after inspection and approval by
the town Fire Warden or his delegate.
- No fire shall be started with out
first calling the Lisbon Police at 353-2500 to notify them of such
fire and check on the “class day.”
- Habitual offenders shall not be
issued any permits.
- When deemed necessary to issue a
ticket in violation of any laws or regulations on open burning the
State Forest Ranger shall be contacted.
